Studio Time Expectations

Applies to Intermediate & Advanced Art

Studio time is your opportunity to grow as an artist, explore materials, and push your projects forward. To make the most of this time, you are expected to:

Be Prepared

• Come to class with your sketchbook, materials, and a clear plan for what you’ll work on.

• Review your project proposal or notes before beginning.

Stay Focused & Productive

• Use the full class period for your artmaking.

• Phones and unrelated activities are not allowed during studio time.

• If you finish early, continue refining, experimenting, or starting your next project.

Respect the Space

• Use materials responsibly and only as intended.

• Share tools, supplies, and space fairly.

• Keep food and drinks away from art supplies.

Clean Up

• Stop work with enough time to clean thoroughly.

• Return all materials to their proper place.

• Leave your area ready for the next class.

Engage in the Process

• Document your progress in your sketchbook or artist journal.

• Reflect on your choices and techniques.

• Be prepared to discuss your work during critiques or check-ins.
